Celebrate the Brazilian Carnaval with some hot music!

The Handphibians are a vibrant group of Madison-based musicians dedicated to playing and promoting Brasilian-style percussion.

Grupo Balança is a Madison-based ensemble that plays Brazilian Pagode. Pagode is a style of samba that developed in the 1980’s in southern Brazil. In addition to pagode, the ensemble plays samba Enredo and Samba de Roda. The instrumentation of Grupo Balança is cavaquinho, guitar, and an assortment of small hand held percussion instruments, including reco-reco, pandeiro, tan-tan, repinique de mão, and tambourim.

The Samba Novistas will kick things off!
